Hi readers, some of my customers keep asking me the same questions as I am selling designer fragrances and skincare products online.
I know when it comes to choosing the correct fragrances for yourself is kind of a hit and miss decision. Know your desired level of intensity and price range, then slowly take your time to choose the brands you like that carry the particular fragrances.
Here's a brief crash course on what those different types of perfume is all about.
1. Essential Oil (Extrait) This type of perfume is a very concentrated liquid extracted from plants or fruits. The extracted oil carries its distinctive smell of its plants and normally it comes with a heavy price tag. The oil normally contains 15% - 40% of concentrates, the reason being why it lasts the longest on your skin compared to any other cologne or alcohol based perfume.
2. Eau de Parfum (EDP) comes in second spot in terms of its lasting fragrant. Eau de Parfum is not to be mistaken with essential oil and pure perfume. However, Eau de Parfum still contains a substantial amount of concentrated oil (7% - 15% level of concentration) and low in alcohol, this also costs a lot.
3. Eau de Toilette (EDT) contains ~1% - 7% level of concentration. This is typically the most popular type of fragrance among men and women for its affordable price and generally comes in a somewhat generous amount per bottle. However, Eau de Toilette is never supposed to last long on your skin, it merely gives the refreshing effect on your body.
4. Eau de Cologne (EDC)/Cologne generally includes 2%-5% level of concentration. It is a dilute perfume with its main base of ethanol and a concoction of citrus oils, Eau de Cologne has the faintest and lightest smell compared to the rest of the fragrances
Next, I will blog about which designer fragrances are popular now in each of those categories :)
